Track star Wilma Rudolph helped put Clarksville on the map with her triple gold medal performance in the 1960 Olympics. Wilma’s fame was the catalyst for an explosion in recreation and leisure events in her hometown, which now attracts such events as the Tennessee Senior Games and the AAU Boys and Girls National Basketball Championships. Youth Basketball

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and Clarksville-Montgomery County have come together for over two decades, bringing high-quality national championships to the area. Junior athletes from around the nation travel to Clarksville-Montgomery County with the desire to win big.

Youth Baseball and Softball

Heritage Park, Civitan Park, and RichEllen Park can host multi-game tournaments in their spacious complexes, complete with lights, sound, and concessions.

Youth Soccer

Heritage Park can host up to 250 teams at their Soccer Complex. Past events include the 3v3 Live and Kick-it 3v3 youth regional tournaments. An on-site concession area and overhead lights make the complex available for day-long events. 

Water Sports

The multitude of waterways includes lakes, rivers, and streams. Many teams have come for the well-known bass and catfish supply. Recreational water sports include boating and tubing, and drag boats. Canoes, kayaks, and tubes are available to rent through Run-a-Muck Outfieers, 931-551-6606.

Clarksville features 10 adult lighted baseball fields, 7 youth lighted baseball fields, and 17 softball fields that are suitable for tournament play. Four little league fields are available. All fields can be converted into youth fields with portable fencing.

Clarksville offers 14 public and private gymnasiums suitable for tournament play. With the capability of converting to suit many sports, Clarksville hosts state and regional championships in volleyball and wrestling, as well as the AAU National Basketball Championship.

Many of Clarksville-Montgomery County high school and middle school complexes are adequately equipped to comfortably handle football tournament play. The community features 8 lighted football fields and 1 track & field stadium at Austin Peay State University.

The Heritage Park Soccer Complex is one of Clarksville’s most exciting sports venues. The complex contains 12 playing fields, of which 4 are lighted. Other sites include 4 fields at Fairgrounds Park and 1 field at each of the 5 school complexes.
