Start your morning on (or in) the water! Throw in your line at the Cumberland River, one of the world’s top catfishing spots! On the Cumberland or Red Rivers – or many of their offshoot creeks and streams -- you can fish, boat, waterski, or tube to your heart’s content. Kayak or canoe up to 14 miles along our 650 miles of navigable waterways. Local outfitter Run-a-Muck Canoe is located at the eastern end of the county along the Red River. Golf and Disc Golf
Tee off at any of Clarksville’s six golf courses. Swan Lake is a municipal course set adjacent to the scenic Dunbar Cave State Natural Area. Or, bring the whole family for a fun disc golf outing at Rotary Park.
Hike three miles of easy-to-moderate trails and explore the cave at the 144-acre Dunbar Cave State Park. It’s the only public cave in the nation where you can see prehistoric Mississippian Native American cave art dating to the 14th century. Reserve a tour between May – September Take along a picnic and enjoy watching the turtles, ducks and geese.
To burn more calories, tackle nine miles of paved trails by foot or bike at the Clarksville Greenway, an abandoned rail bed featuring bluffs, a creek, canopied trees and farm landscapes.
Explore downtown starting with a stroll along the Cumberland RiverWalk. Take a few moments and relish a swing overlooking the river. Then, continue your trek and wind upwards into historic downtown via the connecting Upland Trail and Spur Line Park where you’ll see historic buildings and cross two former railroad trestles.
Rotary Park offers a 5.2-mile single-track mountain mile trail offering portions to accommodate beginner to intermediate skill levels. The North Ford St. Mountain Bike Trail features a 3-trail for advanced riders.
Enjoy a drive through the countryside to the 126-acre Montgomery County Shooting Complex.
