Job Title:  Director of Historic Collinsville and Weakley House Museum

FLSA Status:  Exempt*
Reports to:  Executive Director, Convention & Visitors Bureau
Salary Range:  $53,000 - $58,000


The Director of Historic Collinsville and Weakley House Museum for the Convention and Visitors Bureau will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and programming for Historic Collinsville Pioneer Settlement and Weakley House Museum. The Director requires leading guided tours, developing interpretation, programming, and being the lead educator at Historic Collinsville and Weakley House Museum. The position will also be responsible for managing a budget, marketing needs, all merchandise, maintaining inventory, and balancing cash drawer. The Director will develop and manage all special events and rentals for the site, as well as oversee maintenance and groundskeeping.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and manage the contract services at Historic Collinsville, and Weakley House Museum including tours.
  • Act as Interpreter for Historic Collinsville and Weakley House Museum providing guests with an extraordinary experience.  
  • Lead daily programs and tours, for school groups, group tours and other guests.
  • Organize and maintain Historic Collinsville brochures, advertisements, merchandise, and office supplies, etc.
  • Promote Historic Collinsville and Weakley House Museum thru public speaking at civic clubs etc.
  • Plan and host special events and manage rentals.
  • Keep all items and furnishings for the appropriate period for each building.
  • Hire staff and recruit/manage volunteers as needed.
  • Collect and report all money to Accounting.
  • Maintain all inventory at visitor’s center.
  • Work with County Maintenance to keep grounds and buildings clean and in working order.
  • Review, maintain, and create (as needed) internal controls for Historic Collinsville and Weakley House.
  • Preserve all historic artifacts-identify & manage risk of damage or loss.
  • Other duties as assigned.
