St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church

The congregation of St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church dates to meeting in 1866 in a building on Second Street which no longer exists. The current building was built in 1873 and underwent renovations in 1890 during which time a steeple was added. The building is Gothic Revival in design and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
