About
Lettie Kendall dedicated 40 years to education, starting in a two-room schoolhouse in Augusta, Ark., where she met her husband, Robert B. Kendall. While he served in the 101st Airborne, she raised four children and worked as a teacher and principal, significantly improving student test scores. She was also active in the Tennessee Association of Elementary School Principals and excelled in helping students with math deficiencies. In her community, she was a lifelong NAACP member and led efforts to establish a community center, now named in her honor, which hosts various events and includes a head start program where she tutored for a decade.
