Concerts & Live Music
Music is a universal language that brings people together -- give people a sense of community and belonging. Clarksville is filled with talented musicians from all genres and we showcase them with concerts and performances throughout the year. Many are free, some are ticketed, but all provide fun and important opportunities to celebrate music and build community.
You can't talk about music in Clarksville without talking about a couple of legends who made the city their home for a while. Rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix lived in Clarksville after a stint with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell. We think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame says it best when they described Hendrix as "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music." He formed his first band there and played gigs around town before making his way to Nashville. A second significant Clarksville connection is Bluegrass King Roy Acuff. He purchased Dunbar Cave in 1948 and hosted concerts in the cave that featured all the great Big Bands of the day -- what a party every Saturday night!
You also can't talk about music in Clarksville without acknowledging the impact of Austin Peay State University. Faculty concerts, guests artists and student recitals tally more than 100 music performances each semester! (See their full calendar here.)
From country to classical and lots in between, you can find it throughout the year in Clarksville!
