Tennessee Triumph Unveiling

106 Public Square, Clarksville, TN 37043

August 15, 2020

  • Location: Public Square
  • Time: 5:00 PM

Tennessee holds a special place in passing the 19th Amendment into law, extending voting rights to women. Tennessee was the final state needed for ratification, and our legislators came through with a two-vote victory margin. Celebrate the amendment’s 100th anniversary in 2020 with this special monument to make Clarksville a stop along the state’s Woman Suffrage Heritage Trail stretching from Chattanooga to Memphis.

Tennessee Triumph (affectionately named by the Steering Committee as “Tennie”) will be unveiled Saturday, August 15 on Public Square in downtown Clarksville. Gather at 5:00 p.m. at the Courthouse (One Millennium Plaza) for a suffrage march to the unveiling site. The statue unveiling and a brief dedication will begin at 6 p.m. You are encouraged to wear white, yellow or purple clothing but certainly not required.

We are also asking folks to wear masks and socially distance.
