A cold water plunge, an ice-cold beverage, and a frozen cup or cone of creamy, dreamy deliciousness. These are our favorite ways to tackle summer heat and humidity. Fortunately, you’ll find plenty of options for all of these in Clarksville. We’re sharing some of our favorite (and your soon-to-be-favorite) ice cream spots. Frozen Fuel opened in downtown Clarksville last summer. What makes them different is that the ice cream is made fresh on-site with premium ingredients, and when you walk in the shop you don’t see any ice cream. What? That’s right, they keep their ice cream covered in a freezer until ready to serve, to maximize the quality of texture and taste. If you think this quality can’t compare to national or well-known brands, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Enjoy flavors like Chocolate Overload and Lemon Surprise plus several dairy-free options, Italian ice, shakes, and malts. They’re also a dog-friendly business with ice cream for your furry companion.

Our pick: Caramel Crunch. As lush as it sounds…and is…the fresh, quality ingredients give it an unexpected lightness. #pureyum

Find Frozen Fuel at 120 Strawberry Alley.

The first impressions you have when you walk into La Michoacana are variety and color. It all looks so festive, even artful. Designing these hand-made popsicles is an art form, not just for the tasty combinations, but for the visual presentation. About 45 flavors of hand-made popsicles and ice creams await, along with some of the most beautiful cakes you’ve ever encountered. La Michoacana uses natural ingredients and fresh fruit to create more combinations than you can imagine. The Gansito, traditionally make with strawberry cream and chocolate includes a Twinkie! Chocolate Lovers contains not one, but two, full-size Oreos. The hard thing about visiting here is choosing!

Our pick: Chocolate Banana. #simplydreamy

Since then a second location opened across town. If Cold Stone is not familiar to you, this hand-crafted ice cream is made fresh in every store. Top-quality ingredients are mixed with your choice of add-ins on a frozen granite stone. You’ll find “signature creations” like Cake Batter Batter Batter and Mud Pie Mojo are fun, but you’re always welcome to create your own! Enjoy sorbets, yogurt, smoothies, shakes, and cakes.

Our pick: The Strawberry Blond – everything from a strawberry pie with a dose of caramel. #indulgence
